The vacations start with the journey! Enjoy the journey through beautiful Switzerland, through the green Valais with lots of sunshine, vineyards and along the Rhone river. From Sierre a pleasant road leads through the vineyards, forests, meadows and typical Valais villages to the high plateau of Crans-Montana. Have a good trip and we are looking forward to it!
With the Swiss Federal Railways (SBB) you can easily and comfortably travel to Sierre:
From German-speaking Switzerland you can reach the Valais via Lausanne (Lausanne - Sion - Sierre) or via the Lötschberg line (Berne - Kandersteg -Goppenstein - Brig - Sierre).
From Western Switzerland you reach the Valais via the Rhone Valley (Lausanne - Sion - Sierre).
From Ticino you reach the Valais via the Centovalli (Locarno - Domodossola - Brig - Sierre).
To get from Sierre to Montana (Montana-Vermala), you can use the funicular from Sierre to Montana. You can reach the valley station from the train station in Sierre on foot in about 5 minutes (just follow the red line that starts on the station square). Depending on the season, a small shuttle bus runs back and forth between the train station and the valley station. The funicular runs every 30 minutes. At the top station there is the possibility to use a cab, or you can organize the hotel bus, which will be happy to pick you up at the top station at the pre-arranged time.
You can also use the bus to get from Sierre to Montana. However, the travel time takes a little longer. The bus stop (Montana-Forum d'Y Coor) is a bit closer to the hotel. The buses are also ideal to reach excursion destinations in the beautiful area around Montana.
From French-speaking Switzerland you can reach Montana via the A9 Lausanne - Sierre freeway. From German-speaking Switzerland you can reach Montana through the Lötschberg (car transport Kandersteg-Goppenstein) via Sierre or via the highway Bern - Vevey - A9 - Martigny - Sierre. From Italy or Ticino you can reach Montana via the Simplon Pass.
